Race 1:14

“Running the Race of Truth and Grace”

Why

Race 1:14 was started in 2009 by the Oklahoma Fellowship of Christian Athletes due to the burden we, the FCA staff, had for the female athletes we were working alongside. Girl after girl was struggling with their identity as a female, as an athlete, and as a daughter of God. We saw this identity crisis leading to issues such as eating disorders, cutting, and lifestyle choices. With each story it broke our hearts a little bit more, thus Race 1:14 was born.Race 1:14 is based on the verse John 1:14, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the father, full of grace and truth.” We want these girls to understand the TRUTH of who God says they are and through the GRACE of Jesus Christ, no matter what they have done or where they are coming from, God loves them!

What: Two Part

First, we have Race 1:14 huddles. This is where a group of girls get together and go through our 7 week devotion guide that includes scripture and discussion questions.Second, This is a state-wide event where girls, ages 12-18, come for one night and hear from female athletes, female coaches, and FCA staff about where their identity comes from: Christ! We have great videos, amazing worship, and a lot of fun!Last year, we had over 400 female athletes, coaches, and volunteers!!
