"To present to coaches and athletes and all whom they influence the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and savior serving Him in their relationships and with the fellowship of the church."
As the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, we understand the local church is the focal point of believers. As a sports ministry, we feel it an honor to partner with the local church in sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with coaches and athletes. What does this partnership and "with the fellowship of the church" look like? This a letter from the Head Football Coach, Ivan Esau, of Jefferson Middle School:
"I write this to let you know of a relationship that was nurtured and built over the last few years. I am the very blessed coach of Jefferson Middle School football team. Several years ago I was fortunate to meet Abraham through events at and around another school that I worked at. He persisted in supplying my team with motivation and positive reinforcement. He also establish the groundwork that has enabled my players to not only be fed a meal prior to each game but an opportunity for growth. Growth of mind, heart, body and soul.
In 2013 he made arrangement with Pastor Mark at Crossroads Church to have my players brought from school to the church where they are fed a hot meal and given positive words to ponder and store. This was amazing all of last season but as with all great Christian events, things didn't stop there. In 2014 Pastor Mark not only continued to feed us both physically and spiritually, but offered the human contact and fellowship that is often missing from my players lives.
Pastor Mark had a van in front of my school every Wed night immediately after practice for my players to ride to and from Crossroads where they interacted openly and freely with the congregation. They loved it. They talked about it for days after every time. This following year I wanted to expand it yet again to build on this relationship. I want to start earlier and have the spirit continued with my new players. I hope to foster this into an annual relationship with Pastor Mark and Crossroads church. Without Abraham's work and dedication this would NOT be possible. For that I am eternally grateful."
The Bible teaches us in Ephesians 4:12-13 "Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ."
As the body of Christ, it is our responsibility to unite with the local church...the ultimate Teammates!
